Hooping Moves & Style
Your hooping style is a combination of the types of moves you enjoy and the speed at which you like to hoop. Whether you’re into slow, meditative movement or fast-paced, technical flow, your style is shaped by how you interact with the hoop.
On-body Hooping
Also known as core hooping, this style includes any movement where the hoop is spinning around your body—typically at the waist, chest, shoulders, or legs. It’s often rhythmic and meditative, helping to build coordination, balance, and core strength.
Off-body Hooping
Off-body hooping involves moves where the hoop is no longer spinning around your core. Instead, you’re manipulating the hoop with your hands, arms, feet, ankles, or elbows. These tricks are more dynamic and often involve tosses, isolations, and quick direction changes.
Blending On-body and Off-body
Many hoopers enjoy combining both styles for a more expressive flow. Transitions between on-body and off-body moves allow for creative choreography and personal expression, and can make your hoop dance feel more fluid and dynamic.
