Tubing Options
Tubing Material Info
Polypro tubing is known for being lighter and stiffer than HDPE, giving it a crisp, snappy feel and faster response time. This responsiveness makes it a favorite among many hoopers, especially for quick, technical flow.
However, the rigid structure of polypro tubing makes it more prone to cracking—particularly during aggressive hooping, sudden impacts with hard surfaces, and especially when used in colder temperatures. These considerations are important to keep in mind with LED hoops, as the added weight of internal components can increase stress on the tubing.
Despite these facts, polypro tubing remains a popular choice for its lightness and agility. We currently offer polypro tubing in clear and translucent color options: Lilac (purple), Blush (pink), Dew (green), and Aqua (blue).
Will the tubing color affect the lights?
In motion—especially at medium to high speeds—differences in tubing color become nearly invisible. When the hoop is moving more slowly, you can see that the tubing is different and may notice a slight tint.
The color difference will be the most notable when the hoop is on an all white setting.

The FutureHoop comes with bare tubing, but can be lightly sanded or have a layer of hoop wax added along the inner ring of the hoop for extra grip.
Included with your hoop is a MoodHoops Hoop Wax Heart, which offers a lightweight, removable and transparent alternative to sanding or taping your hoop. Extra hoop wax can be reapplied to keep up the grip. To use, rub vigorously along the inner ring of your hoop to create a textured surface.
What about grip tape? The FutureHoop uses sensors to be able to pick up the button press signals from the remote controls. It's best not to use regular grip tape with this hoop, as the grip tape (whether in black or white) blocks the signal and shortens the signal distance.
Sanding and hoop wax is clear, doesn’t transfer to your clothes or skin, and is the best option for hoop grip that does not interrupt the remote control signal. Please make sure you want to keep the hoop before sanding the tubing.
Battery & Hoop Spec Comparison
It’s best to keep your batteries charged in between hooping sessions so you can pick up and play whenever you want. If you know you won't be using your hoop for many months it's ok to store at half charge. Don't leave lithium-ion batteries at near-zero charge for extended periods, and avoid storing them in hot places like a car or direct sunlight. Regardless of care, li-ion batteries will lose some capacity over time. It’s best to keep your battery in good shape to extend the glow time it can give back to you.
The run-times listed below depend heavily on brightness level, pattern selection, and hoop size.
Power Saving Tips
- Use the remote control to turn down the brightness.
- FutureHoop patterns that use more black space than color are powering fewer LEDs at once, which extends battery run-time. Simple, minimal patterns (like spirals and chasers) can last for many hours on a single charge.
