Progression of Hooping Skills
The thick tubing of the Beginner Kids hoop is a little more heavy weight than most hula hoops, which is great for beginners, as the hooper can feel the hoop as it goes around their body. Bigger, heavier hoops allow the hooper to have a better sense of where the hoop is at, and have a longer time to react as it spins around them.
With smaller bodies, this hoop size/thickness is great for learning waist hooping, though it may cause slight bruising. This is not at all uncommon when learning to hoop as the body adjusts to the new movement and pressure from the spinning tubing.
Once a good beginner skill base has been established you can opt for a lighter hoop. The lighter hoops are a little more advanced, as the hoop being lighter keep fatigue down, but makes it a little harder to feel where the hoop is around the body.
