Amy Greenley - St Louis, MO
My name is Amy Greenley, people in the Flow community may know me as Amy Inspiral. I am 24 years old, born and raised in St. Louis Missouri. Ever since I can remember I have always had an active life style. I was very adventurous and always wanted to do things that were out of the ordinary. At the age of 18 I discovered a simple circular toy that has been around for almost 60 years… A hula hoop! And WOW has this thing changed my life! My hula hoop helped me get off my booty every single day. I was motivated to become great the Art, so I stayed persistent and dedicated, and I practice every day. Now I want to make hooping my life! It is more than just a toy or a hobby, it is my possible career that has satisfied me to the extreme. My sacred circle has helped me find peace, and I am extremely grateful to have found it. ❤️

My main talent would be hoop dancing! I can perform with one hoop, 2 hoops, 4 hoops, and I can even do a couple things with 6 hoops! I also play with other props like fire fans, contact staff, and dragon staff. I just began aerial silks training as well that I am definitely not ready to perform just yet but one day I will be. And finally I practice LOVE to practice the art of yoga and Acro yoga!
What I have noticed about the flow community is that it is filled with a bunch of people who see the beauty in the stranger things, who don’t want to fit in, but stand out. Every flow artist has the ability to bring something new and different to the community, I have noticed we like to embrace our ability to be weird or different by adding to the list of possibilities you can transform into flow. I try to give back to the community by making tutorials, and teaching hoop in person. I help people find the perfect prop for them and possibly in the perfect outfit to match too. 😉 I show love every which way and whenever I can! Because I believe the more love you give the more love you will receive!

With that being said I am inspired by HUNDREDS of hoopers. I will list off a few but there are SO many amazingly talented hoopers out there I know I won’t be able to named them all.

I’m going to stop there but I could defiantly keep going. All of these awesome people keep me inspired and motivated.
In my backyard, at forest park, or at the gym.
It all started back at Electric Forest in 2013, I can remember it like it was yesterday. That was my first festival ever and I fell in love with the scene immediately. The lovely lady that camped with me that year had a giant rainbow hoop that she got at the forest the year before, I remember watching her being absolutely amazed at what she could do with it!! After making the forest my home for a couple days, I was hanging out at my campsite when I decided to pick up my friends hoop. She showed me a couple things that she thought I could do at the time so I just went for it! I began waist hooping and then eventually the hoop lowered to my knees. The first time I ever knee hooped… It was the coolest feeling EVER! I felt like a fucking wizard or something.
2 weeks later my first hoop was born! It was massive! I think it was 38-40 inches in diameter and 1 inch for the tubing thickness. I didn’t care, nor did I know any better… But that thing helped me become the hooper I am today.
I got made fun of a lot by my friends for the first year I was practicing. It was a little discouraging. But I kept doing it, I had never had a hobby like this before, and at that point in my life I hadn’t had a hobby in such a long time, so I was extremely ecstatic to have found it!
Fast forward 3 years and now I’m freaking foot hooping while doing a handstand!?!? When I was younger I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. Thoughts of different careers had crossed my mind but I never found anything that made me say ‘That is what I want to do with the rest of my life.’ Hooping has made me feel that way… All because of my simple little plastic circle, I have learned an incredible amount about myself that I don’t think I would have ever learned doing anything ordinary. Hooping makes me so freaking happy, I am incredibly grateful for everything it’s done to help me change my life. 🙏🏽 I know I have found my niche in the world, and just feels so damn right! And if it feels right it can’t be wrong!? Right???
A Flow community is a spectacular thing because it can be small or large, local or cyber, and it is filled with people who are just like you that want to learn and grow! They want to lift up your spirits by teaching you new things, and having fun!! I have never experienced a Flow community that has tried to tear people down. If you have a local community it is a great way to meet new people and possibly play with props you have never played with before. And personally I have found the cyber Flow community to be, just absolutely amazing. First of all I have learned almost all of my tricks from watching videos on YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram. I am constantly getting compliments and shown love and I do my best to send it right back to them! I have met SO many friends through the cyber world which is kind of crazy but it makes my heart so happy knowing that there is so many beautiful people out there! I try to give back to the community by making tutorials, and teaching hoop in person. I help people find the perfect prop for them and possibly in the perfect outfit to match too. 😉 I show love every which way and whenever I can! Because I believe the more love you give the more love you will receive!
