FutureHoop Designer, FuturePoi Designer, and FutureStaff Designer all share a common firmware platform. This guide will teach you how to customize and control your prop with a computer and the included remote control. Almost all of the following instructions apply to all 3 props. If a section only applies to one of them, we’ll note that in the title.
The Basics
To get started, just turn it on and start playing! Your prop comes pre-loaded with patterns and default settings, so you can play with it right out of the box. Nearly everything is customizable to suit your preferences. To accomplish this, your prop has a memory that works just like a USB flash drive.
The USB drive contains folders, and those folders contain bitmaps (.bmp files). Bitmaps are a universal type of image file that you can edit in most image editors.
Each bitmap file represents a Pattern.
Each folder represents a Mode.
Patterns are grouped into Modes for easier navigation and thematic consistency.
The USB drive also contains some text files that customize Designer’s behavior. You don’t need to mess with these files at all if you just want to start playing.
Even if your remote isn’t with you, you can still advance through the Modes by cycling the power off and on again. By default each Mode has Autoplay enabled. Autoplay means playback will automatically advance to the next Pattern at a regular interval. When it reaches the last Pattern in a Mode it will wrap around to the first and keep going.
