It’s never too late, and you’re never too old.

For me, finding the hoop in 2017 wasn’t just about discovering a new hobby—it was a profound journey of post-divorce self-empowerment, body connection, and rebuilding self-confidence. But it was in 2021, at the age of 41, during an intentional 365-day Hoop Challenge on Instagram, that everything really clicked. That daily dedication unlocked massive skill level-ups, a deep passion for creative video making, and a deep connection to the global flow community. Even though I finally stopped posting daily around Day 1000, my daily practice remains sacred.
Today, I get to share that passion as a instructor retreats like Cheeselandia Hoop Affair and High Altitude Hoop Retreat. My Mood Hoops FutureHoops are the ultimate extension of my movement, allowing me to translate music into cinematic, creative visuals – they are featured in some of my favorite videos I have created thus far! Whether I’m teaching on the ground, filming unique video concepts, or letting my sassy Halloween alter ego, Dolly Rambler, take over for some spooky October flow, I am dedicated to inspiring others to find their own power through the hoop.
q & a
Hula Hoops will always be my first love – all sizes, colors and numbers of hoops. I also love to explore with tech fans, silk fans, dragon staff, and any other juggle and flow props I can get my hands on!
What I’m most passionate about in the flow community is its power to foster genuine, transformative connection. Hooping was the catalyst for my own self-empowerment and healing, and my goal is to show others that it’s never too late to rewrite their stories.
I envision my influence living in two spaces:
First, on the ground as an instructor, where I can physically connect with and empower others at events like Cheeselandia and High Altitude Hoop Retreat, and finding more ways to introduce hooping and flow to my local community. I also love to use social media as a platform for providing tutorials as well as challenges for leveling up (looking at you, September Splits Challenge!).
Second, would be online as a digital creator. Through my creative and cinematic video concepts, I love inspiring people globally, showing them how to blend movement and music into an absolute art form.
I would say my style is Cinematic, Emotionally Expressive, and sometimes just Weird! My flow is deeply tied to the music I listen to as well as the mood I’m in. I love transforming rhythm into creative, storytelling videos that evoke real feeling. I love pushing boundaries with unique concepts, but my absolute favorite contrast happens in October. That’s when my sassy alter ego, Dolly Rambler, takes over – I love how she unleashes a completely different side of me.
There are so many hoopers and artists I am inspired by, and I find more all the time! Some that stand out would be Lee Jeffries (who else can make me cry from his stunning performances and flow?), Rachel @hecral (her video edits are amazing!), Abi Spindsey (you created a hoop juggler out of me!), Lila @lila_chupahoops (absolutely stunning hooper, performer and teacher), and so many more.
My living rooms gets a lot of practice love, and I have set it up to be a warm and welcome space. But when I have the time, I like to practice Anywhere and Everywhere! I love finding new and interesting hoop spots in my neighborhood, and whenever I travel. If you see a random girl walking around a city or a park with 10 hoops and props strapped to her back, it could be me! There is so much out there in the world to be inspired by, I guess I really am a Rambler at heart.
My journey technically began years before I ever touched a hoop. I remember being at a show and seeing a girl dancing with an LED hoop all by herself in the middle of the crowd. She looked so strong, completely independent, and effortlessly beautiful. Fast forward to 2017: I was post-divorce, trying to rediscover who I was after a relationship that had stripped away my power and self-image. As I was trying to figure out who I wanted to be moving forward, that girl popped back into my head. On a total whim, I decided to buy a hoop. Fun fact? It was a 39" Orchid Beginner Hoop from MoodHoops. To go from that healing first spin to officially joining the MoodHoops team is the ultimate full-circle dream come true.
It’s all about connection. When I first started, hooping was a very solitary, healing practice for me. But once I began sharing my journey online during my year-long daily challenge, the flow community wrapped its arms around me. It was this overwhelming support, encouragement, and love from fellow flow artists that kept me going. I found a global family of people who celebrate each other's growth without judgment- how amazing is that? This community gave me a safe space to heal, level up, and find my voice.
The greatest impact the flow community can make is providing a judgment-free sanctuary for healing and self-discovery, proving that joy, play, and self-empowerment belong to every stage of life. I am dedicated to pushing that impact forward through mentorship and creative representation. As an instructor at flow retreats as well as with local classes/workshops, I get to actively build those safe spaces in person and help hoopers step into their confidence. Online, I use my cinematic, wonderfully weird style to capture the imagination of the next person who might be searching for themselves—reminding them it’s never too late to start.
