My main prop is a hula hoop! Single, even though I attempt doubles every so often. I also spin fans, and my new recent favorite is fire sword!
My greatest passion that I bring to the flow community is teaching. There is nothing I love more than sharing knowledge and watching people succeed. I share this with the community by hosting classes and workshops for all level of flow artists.
My style is primarily dance focused, incorporating over 30 styles of dance into my flow. I was a partner dance instructor before I began hooping, so when I picked one up for the first time, the first thought I had was "this is my new dance partner".
My favorite practice stop is a studio. I used to love practicing in public, but as I've grown through the years, I find more enjoyment practicing alone in the studio.
My Flow Journey began in 2012 a few months after seeing a fire hooper at an after-hours event on the Southside of Chicago. Growing up as a dancer, I was captivated by the idea of a new form of dance. Months later, I made my first hoop and the journey began.
Performing has always been sort of an out-of-body experience, while still feeling every part of it. It gives me the opportunity to not only express, but also tell a story and evoke feelings from the audience. There is a special connection that happens when you can lock in with your viewers.
*Do you have any flow related personal successes that you’d like to share?*
My greatest flow success have been the amazing hoop workshop tours I did with Lee Jeffries, driving around the country, serving sass. I am also extremely proud of the Immersion Hoop Retreat I hosted in New Orleans right before the world shut down due to COVID.
Being part of the flow community has connected me with some of my closest friends! It has allowed me to travel the world, creating unbreakable bonds along the way. This community fosters deep connections—both with oneself and others—offering healing through movement. That’s why I’m passionate about sharing the flow love through classes and workshops.
CONNECT WITH YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY! I find meeting up and hooping together helped me gain confidence and social skills. Getting together with my fellow flow artists opened up so many creative doors. Although I may be biased, I think taking in-person classes is the best way to progress in your journey. Learn from knowledgeable and experienced instructors and skill share the things you know with friends.
My goal is to always explore the ways I can bring more dance elements into my flow. I like to see how many dance styles I can integrate into the many props I've played with!
