Reformat Hoop Drive on Mac computer – Flashing Red LED

How Can We Help?

You are here:

If it looks like the files are appearing correctly, but the hoop is still showing an error with that flashing red LED, first try reformatting the hoop drive.

Follow these steps after making sure you’ve saved a copy of your bitmaps to your computer. Reformatting your hoop will erase everything stored on the hoop’s memory during the reset.

In the “Disk Utility” window, click the “Initialize” button, then you’ll be prompted to reformat the hoop drive.

Make sure the hoop drive is selected and hit erase.

From there, a new window will pop up where you can follow these steps:
1. Rename drive (or keep “untitled”)
2. Format: FAT, FAT32, or MS-DOS (FAT) [one of these options should be a choice] 3. Scheme: MBR

From there, hit erase and wait for the drive to format.

Reformatting the drive will erase what’s on the hoop, but you can download the pattern collection again from our downloads page here: https://moodhoops.com/downloads

Once the reformatting is completed and your hoop is working again as expected, try loading any of your own the patterns back onto your hoop! 😊

A good best practice with your own bitmaps is to always store a copy of them on your computer in case the hoop’s drive ever needs to be reformatted again. This way you have a copy of everything that you can just drag and drop back onto the hoop 🙂
