Our Mission
Built with a love for the craft and deep appreciation for the circles we share.
At MoodHoops, we create LED flow toys, tools, and props for movement, wonder, and self-expression.
We believe creativity and play are meaningful parts of a well-lived life. Blending handcrafted care with creative technology, we build imaginative props that feel special, function beautifully in the real world, and become part of people’s creative lives.
MoodHoops is a woman-owned small business and a proudly inclusive workshop that supports and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community. We believe flow is for every body, every background, and every stage of the journey.
A favorite prop can become more than an object. It can become a companion for practice, a catalyst for confidence, a creative outlet, a source of release, a way to move through emotion, or a quiet place to return to yourself.
Some flow happens in the community, under lights, surrounded by music and friends. Some of it happens alone, in bedrooms, backyards, parks, studios, and late-night practice spaces where skill slowly becomes style. From quiet moments of solo practice to performances shared with a crowd, our props are made to spark joy, support self-expression, and invite play.
We are honored and delighted to create pieces that help people feel more present, confident, expressive, and connected.
Our Story
Since 2011, MoodHoops has been handcrafting LED hoops and flow props while growing alongside the flow arts community that inspired it.
The idea began after three longtime friends traveled to Burning Man and found themselves completely inspired by a community shaped by art, creativity, movement, and play. After returning home, they took a leap and began building something of their own.
The earliest MoodHoops workshop was a tiny triangle-shaped house on stilts along the Weeki Wachee River in Florida. Every available corner became part of the operation. Hoops were crafted, photographed, packed, and shipped from the house, while an old school bus that had traveled across the country to Burning Man occasionally served as overflow space.
On January 1, 2011, 1/1/11, the MoodHoops online shop officially opened.
At the time, finding the right hoop was not always easy. Many hoop shops were tiny hobby operations with limited options. We wanted to create a more welcoming and reliable experience. We sourced vibrant multicolor LEDs, developed thoughtfully coordinated styles, photographed glowing hoops with trails so customers could see their magic in motion, and made it easier to choose a hoop that fit your style, your body, and your budget.
From the beginning, we cared just as much about the experience surrounding the prop as the prop itself: helpful guidance, reliable construction, responsive support, and removable rechargeable batteries so the glow could keep going.
Growing With the Flow Arts
As LED technology evolved, so did our imagination.
Our FutureHoop line helped push LED hoop visuals beyond simple chasers and color fades into animated imagery, expressive motion graphics, customizable patterns, and playful visual experiences that unfold as the hoop spins. Inspired by music visualizers, digital art, and the beauty of movement itself, we have continued refining the ways technology can support flow without distracting from it.
Over the years, our once-humble hoop shop has grown into a creative flow-prop studio. Today, we make LED hoops, smart hoops, LED poi, staffs, wands, fans, daytime hoops, beginner hoops, fitness hoops, unusual hoop shapes, fire props, accessories, and more.
Some props are designed to be simple and instantly playful. Others offer deep customization for artists who want to shape every detail. Across the collection, the goal remains the same: to create tools that feel exciting, intuitive, beautiful, and made to be used.
Shaped by Community
MoodHoops would not be what it is today without the artists, performers, teachers, photographers, collaborators, and longtime flow enthusiasts who have shared our props with the world.
Our platform has always been shaped by the many kinds of people who make the flow arts so alive: beginners, professionals, teachers, hobbyists, queer artists, neurodivergent artists, and movers of many ages, bodies, backgrounds, and styles. We are honored to help celebrate and elevate a community where creativity belongs to everyone.
Over the years, we have watched our hoops and flow props become part of performances, workshops, festival nights, quiet practice sessions, creative experiments, and countless moments of connection. We have also seen how personal the journey can be. Flow can be meditation, exercise, emotional release, discipline, play, and creative discovery all at once.
Learning a prop is one kind of journey. Developing your own style is another. It takes time, patience, curiosity, repetition, and courage. We love that flow arts make room for both beginners and masters, for quiet solo practice and shared celebration, for people looking up to their inspirations and for newcomers who unlock something fresh simply by moving in their own way.
The artists who have moved with our props, shared their ideas, offered thoughtful feedback, and championed our work have helped shape the path we continue to follow.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has carried a little MoodHoops glow into their own communities. Your creativity keeps inspiring ours.
Made by Hand, Built to Last
Created by flow artists, dreamers, makers, and craft artisans who care deeply about the details.
MoodHoops has grown into a woman-owned creative manufacturing studio, where every prop is built and hand-finished in sunny Central Florida by a small team with a deep love for movement, craft, and creative technology.
Behind each finished piece are many careful steps: cutting, shaping, soldering, sanding, assembling, testing, refining, and packing. We continually reinvest in better materials, stronger construction, improved electronics, and thoughtful design updates.
We believe a good prop should not be disposable. We prioritize durability, repairability, replaceable components, and practical support whenever possible so that your prop can stay in motion for years to come.
Every MoodHoops prop carries the care of the people who made it. We are deeply grateful for the team whose hands, minds, patience, creativity, humor, problem-solving, and steady devotion bring this work to life day after day.
What Guides Us
Listen Deeply
The flow arts are always changing. Hoops have become lighter, props have become more expressive, and artists continue to invent entirely new ways to move. We pay attention, ask questions, and keep evolving alongside the community.
Craft With Care
We build props for real people and real movement. We believe imaginative design and practical care belong together. A prop should feel special in motion, stand up to real use, and remain supportable over time. Comfort, balance, durability, visual impact, serviceability, and ease of use all matter.
We know that many of our props become deeply personal objects. They travel to festivals, performances, practices, parks, beaches, and late-night flow sessions. They collect memories. We build with that in mind.
Make Room for Every Journey
Some people are picking up a hoop for the very first time. Others are developing performances, exploring new movement styles, or designing custom visual experiences. Some are practicing alone for the joy, release, meditation, and exercise of it. Others are sharing their hard-earned creative work with peers, audiences, and communities.
We want everyone to feel welcomed into the circle.
Keep Improving
Even after fifteen years, we are still experimenting, refining, and learning. Every new idea builds on the props, people, and possibilities that came before it. We continue to chase better builds, brighter ideas, smoother experiences, and new ways for technology to support creative movement.
Take Care of People
When you reach out to MoodHoops, a real human is here to help. We know that contacting a company can sometimes feel frustrating, confusing, or impersonal, so we try to make every interaction feel clear, kind, and genuinely supportive.
Whether you need help choosing a prop, understanding an order, troubleshooting an issue, or finding the right next step, we will meet you with patience and care. We believe good customer service is part of the craft itself: a way of honoring the people who trust us to make something special for them.
Still Glowing
MoodHoops has changed a great deal since the days of building hoops in a tiny house on the river, but the heart of the project remains the same.
Fifteen + years later, we are still captivated by the feeling that started it all: the joy of movement, the magic of light, the inward journey of practice, and the connections that form when people gather to create, play, and share what they love.
The journey often begins alone, but rarely ends there. The creativity, skill, and confidence people cultivate through flow have a way of radiating outward, inspiring others to explore, create, and discover their own path.
The practice is personal. The impact is communal. Again and again, the circle keeps opening, widening, and coming back around.
We genuinely believe creativity, movement, play, and self-expression are worthwhile pursuits. Our products are simply the tools we have chosen to share that belief with the world.
